The US stock markets have recovered this week from recent price losses. The three major stock indices Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq showed large weekly percentage increases of 6.2%, 6.6% and 6.8% respectively.
Shares on the US stock market suffered significant blows in the period from the end of April to mid-May. The markets closed with a weekly loss in the past seven weeks. Bargain hunters have caused prices to rise again this week, analysts say. Favorable news on inflation and consumer spending also pushed the indices higher.
Tech stocks in particular performed well today. Apple shares rose by more than 3 percent and Microsoft by almost 2 percent.
The US stock market will remain closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day, the day on which deceased US servicemen are commemorated.
