The US stock indices closed the trading session on Friday 14 October 2022 (trading weekend) with a notable drop; The session saw for the second day a state of strong fluctuations; The market started the session with a strong rally before turning to the downside.
American indices in the session on Friday 14 October 2022
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell during trading on Friday, by 1.3%, or 403 points, to record 29,634 points, but posted weekly gains of about 1.1%.
The broader “Standard & Poor’s 500” index also dropped 2.4%, or 86 points, to hit the 3,583 point level.
The Nasdaq index fell 3.08%, or 327 points, to 10,331 points.
US Treasury yields rise
The yield on US Treasuries rose today as the 10-year debt yield rose more than 4% and the 2-year bond yield climbed above 4.5%.
The University of Michigan survey of US consumer sentiment showed that inflation expectations for the next year returned to the upside this month, threatening further tightening of monetary policy by the Federal Reserve.

European and Japanese equities in the session on Friday 14 October 2022
As for the European markets, in the session on Friday 14 October 2022, the “Stoxx 600” index rose by 0.6%, equal to two points, reaching the level of 391 points, and the French “CAC” index rose 0.9% about 52 points, registering the level of 5931 points.
The German “Dax” index rose 0.7% about 82 points to the level of 12437 points, and the UK “FTSE 100” index rose 0.1%, or 8 points, to record 6,858 points.
In Japan, the “Nikkei” index rose 3.2% to the level of 27.090 million points, and the broader “TOPIX” index rose 2.3%, to 1898 points.
