US Stock Indexes Register Fractional Discounts, Financial Sector Performs Well

The major US stock indexes registered fractional discounts in the last session of the week.

The Dow Jones finished down 0.42% at 33,886 points, while the S&P500 lost 0.21% at 4,138 points. The Nasdaq was also in the red (-0.35% to 12,123 points).

Excellent performance for financial sector stockson the day the quarterly season kicked off.

Citigroup closed in positive territory (+4.8% to 49.57 dollars). The financial giant finished Q1 2023 with earnings per share of $2.19, compared to $2.02 it posted in the same period a year earlier. However, the figure was higher than the $3 analyst consensus.

Better performance for JP Morgan Chase (+7.52% to 138.69 dollars), after the release of quarterly results: the financial giant closed the 1st quarter of 2023 with earnings per share of 4.1 dollars, much higher than the figure for the first three months of 2022 and the consensus of analysts.

On the other hand, a decidedly negative performance for Boeing (-5.59% to 201.66 dollars).
