After the long meeting that brought together US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, ahead of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, a spokesman for the US State Department confirmed today, Tuesday, that his country he wants the competition with Beijing to turn into a conflict.

The spokesman, Samuel Warburg, indicated that Washington is very keen on relations with China, emphasizing that the Taiwan dossier is not a cause for tension in relations between the two countries. He explained that the US president sees no alternative to diplomacy with the Chinese authorities.

Furthermore, he added that Biden and Xi discussed several global crises yesterday, such as climate change, debt and others. He revealed that Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken will visit China soon to complete the talks.

It is worth noting that the Chinese president yesterday assured his American counterpart that the world is “big enough” for the prosperity of their two countries, but warned Washington not to cross red lines regarding the Taiwan dossier, according to the Chinese Foreign Minister.
