“The United States does not seek conflict with Iran. We do not want the expansion of this war (Israel with Hamas – ed.), but if Iran or its proxies attack American personnel anywhere, make no mistake, we will protect our people, we will protect our security quickly and decisively,” the head of the State Department emphasized during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
He also called on Security Council members to urge Iran not to open another front against Israel and not to attack Israel’s partners.
“And we urge Council members to go even further: let Iran know that if it or its proxies expand this conflict and put more civilians at risk, you will hold them accountable,” the secretary of state added.
