Washington – A US soldier has set himself on fire in front of the Israeli Embassy in protest of Israel’s violence in Gaza. Airman Aaron Bushnell (25) died. Dramatic events unfolded in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC on Sunday afternoon local time. It was broadcast live on social media.

Dressed in military uniform, Bushnell set himself on fire shouting ‘Free Palestine’. A security guard was still standing with his gun pointed at Bushnell. There is an argument that this is a police officer and a security officer at the embassy. After the fire was extinguished, Bushnell was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
As people rushed to try and save his life, an Israeli embassy agent held a gun fixed on Aaron Bushnell following his self-immolation.

The Pentagon responded that it was a tragic incident. Following the protest, the embassy staff were evacuated safely. A bomb squad was deployed after a suspicious vehicle was found in the area. Washington police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Things like Aaron Bushnell’s activities and his connection with any organization are being investigated. Aaron Bushnell, a native of San Antonio, Texas, held the rank of Senior Airman.
The Israel-Gaza war, which began on October 7 last year, is still ongoing. Israel has been carrying out airstrikes on isolated residential areas in Gaza as ceasefire talks progress in Paris. The number of Palestinians killed in the conflict has reached 29,514. Israel has made it clear that the ceasefire will only be considered if the remaining 100 hostages taken in the October 7 attack are immediately released.
