His world hit about the raindrops falling on his head was part of the film “Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid” (German: Two Bandits). The song won an Oscar and was also nominated for a Grammy in 1970.
Thomas’ song “Hooked on a Feeling” was also successful in the USA and sold millions of copies. It was often played on Valentine’s Day and was repeatedly covered by other bands and singers, including Blue Suede.
BJ Thomas was successful until the 1980s and won several gospel Grammys. Then his rum subsided, and there were also alcohol and drug problems. Nevertheless, he continued to tour. In total, he is said to have sold 70 million records.
