WASHINGTON: Barely a week after shooting down a suspected Chinese spy balloon, the US shot down another flying object over its territory. A fighter jet shot down the object, which was flying a good twelve kilometers above Alaska, according to the White House. A spokesman said the flying object, the size of a “small car,” posed a “danger to civil aviation safety.” According to the fighter jet pilot, it was unmanned. In terms of size and shape, it was not comparable to the balloon. More is not yet known. The balloon’s flight over the United States had heightened tensions between Washington and Beijing. A US fighter jet finally shot down the balloon on the US east coast over the Atlantic.
