Secret intelligence China judged to be revealed by the shooting down of a spy balloon that has been in the air for days in the region United States of America (USA), including over top secret military locations. The White House said valuable intelligence information was in the process of being retrieved from the device.
As reported AFP, Tuesday (7/2/2023), Beijing authorities claimed the giant blimp was an aerial vehicle for weather observation that had no military purpose. However, Washington describes it as a sophisticated spy device and can fly very high.
A US fighter jet has been shot down spy balloon it was over the east coast of the Atlantic last Saturday (4/2). Now, the US Navy and Coast Guard are in the process of searching for and collecting the debris from the spy balloon for intelligence analysis.
National Security Council spokesman at the White House, John Kirby, said US personnel “have recovered some debris from the surface of the sea” although weather conditions made it impossible to conduct a further underwater search of debris.
“They will, in the coming days, be able to get down there and get a better look at what’s on the ocean floor, but it has only just begun,” Kirby said in a statement.
Kirby added that steps had been taken to ensure the spy balloon’s instruments “mitigate” its ability to spy during flight. However, continued Kirby, at the same time “advancing and increasing our ability to gather intelligence and information from it”.
“We are still analyzing the information we can collect from the balloon before we shoot it in the sky and now we will recover it and I think we will learn a lot more,” he said.
