Relations worsened after the announcement by the US government that it would no longer support Saudi-led military operations in Yemen against the Houthi movement.
But in a recent development, the United States has delivered a “significant” number of Patriot missiles. The missile was designed to shoot down missiles that have entered Saudi Arabia over the past few weeks.

“This US move is an attempt to supply Riyadh with defensive ammunition in the midst of the ongoing confrontation with the armed Houthi opposition faction in Yemen,” the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report said.

According to the WSJ, the Patriot Interceptors were not shipped directly to Saudi Arabia from the United States.

Instead, the air defense missiles were moved from nearby storage in other Gulf states that would receive approval, as required by US law.
