The Democrats have accused the Republicans of conducting “a mock trial,” CNN said. Normally, the process to appoint a Supreme Court judge takes two to three months, but this time the appointment could be done in a month.
However, the appointment of Coney Barrett as Supreme Court Justice seems inevitable as Republicans in the Senate hold a majority with 53 seats out of 100.

President Donald Trump nominated Coney Barrett in September to succeed late Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The Democrats are appalled that the Republicans want to appoint a judge for life so shortly before the presidential election. The two sides blame each other for hypocrisy and use the issue to mobilize their supporters in the run-up to the presidential election.
If the nomination goes through, the judges who are known to be conservative at the highest U.S. legal body will have a six-to-three majority.
