Democrats in the US Senate blocked Republicans’ attempt to quickly approve a bill to provide aid to Israel. It was passed by the House of Representatives last week, but it does not specify assistance to Ukraine in the conflict with Russia, writes Reuters.
“Democrats blocked a bill to help Israel, which does not include funds to support Ukraine. They emphasized the importance of providing assistance to Kyiv and Israel and accused Republicans of delaying assistance to the Jewish state,” reports Reuters.
Republican Senator Roger Marshall said that “time is precious, so aid to Israel should not be delayed another day.” Senator Patty Murray, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, noted that “allies in Ukraine also cannot afford a delay.”
The bill, which lacks support from Ukraine, supported by majority vote members of the US House of Representatives. It is clarified that 226 people spoke in support of the bill, 196 voted against.
