US seeks to block Microsoft’s acquisition of video game developer Activision Blizzard

The European Commission has also launched a thorough investigation into this transaction, addressing concerns that after its implementation, Activision Blizzard video games will only become available through the offering of Microsoft, the game console maker.

In January, Microsoft announced it would buy Activision Blizzard for $69 billion.

Microsoft said at the time that the deal would accelerate the growth of the company’s video game business across all platforms.

The Call of Duty war game series created by Activision Blizzard is one of the most popular console games in the world.
