US Secretary of State Visits Gaza Border Crossing for Humanitarian Aid – Blinken Urges Israel to Increase Aid Flow to Gaza

Secretary of State of the United States (US), the, he visited the main Gaza border crossing. During his visit, Blinken saw firsthand the process of sending humanitarian aid to the location.

Blinken previously traveled to Kerem Shalom, Israel’s entry point into Gaza. There he saw dozens of trucks waiting to enter as well as several Israeli military tanks parked nearby.

Blinken and Gallant have not briefed the media about their trip to the border Gaza the. However, Blinken’s staff expressed the US Secretary of State’s concern about the level of aid going into the Palestinian territories.

Blinken called on Israel to do more to ensure that humanitarian aid flows quickly to Gaza. The UN has previously warned of famine in Gaza.

Steps Israel could take, Blinken previously said, include devising a list of goods that will not be arbitrarily rejected and allowing more drivers to enter Gaza strip.

It is known that Kerem Shalom has become a symbol of US efforts to pressure Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. After initially banning shipping to Gaza, Israel opened the crossing in December 2023 under US pressure.

Israel also agreed in April to reopen the Ashdod port near Gaza as well as a second crossing from Israel to northern Gaza at Erez. Near Amman on Tuesday (30/4), Blinken led the first convoy of trucks carrying aid supplies from Jordan to pass through Erez.
