US Secretary of State to Announce Sanctions Against Israeli Military Battalion for West Bank Violations

Three American sources reported to the Axios news website yesterday that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is expected to announce, within days, sanctions against an Israeli military battalion, due to violations in its ‘The West Bank is owned.
The informed sources, who did not reveal their identities on the website, indicated that the expected sanctions would prevent the battalion and its members from receiving any form of American military support or training.
Axios explained that this is the first time that the United States has imposed sanctions on an Israeli military unit.
A law passed in 1997 by former US Senator Patrick Leahy prohibits the provision of US foreign aid programs or Pentagon training programs to foreign security, military and police units believed to have committed human rights violations.
Axios quoted an American official as saying, “Blinken’s decision regarding the battalion is based on events in the West Bank that occurred prior to the October 7 attack,” noting that “many of other units in the Israeli army and the police were punished. “After she corrected her behavior.”
The battalion was created as a special unit for Israeli hard soldiers, and its members are all men.
Over the past years, the unit, which is based in the West Bank, has become a destination for many young right-wing settlers.
