On Saturday, November 14, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will embark on a ten-day trip to visit Washington’s allies in Europe and the Middle East.
This will probably be Pompeo’s last such long trip abroad as the US Secretary of State, as the term of the current US President Donald Trump will end in January.
Pompeo will arrive in Paris on Saturday, where he is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss economic and security cooperation and the fight against terrorism.

Pompeo will then travel to Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, where he is scheduled to meet with Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Party of Constantinople.
The US Secretary of State and the head of the Orthodox Church will talk about religious freedom in the world.
Pompeo’s next stop will be Georgia, where he will meet with the country’s top officials and religious leaders.
Georgia will be followed by Israel, where the US foreign policy chief will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both will talk about the normalization of Israel’s relations with the Gulf states and the Iranian threat in the region.
Pompeo could visit one of the Jewish settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. He will thus become the first US Secretary of State to take such a step.
In the second part of the trip, Pompeo will visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
