US Secretary of State “Condemns Detention of Democratic Camps in Hong Kong”… Chinese “interference in internal affairs”

China “Arrested a criminal suspect trying to overthrow state power”

-US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln condemned law enforcement’s repression of pan-democracy camps in Hong Kong. China immediately protested.

Minister Blincoln said on his Twitter on the 1st (local time) that “we condemn the prosecution and detention of the Hong Kong election criminal democratic candidates,” and demanded the law enforcement officials to release democratic officials.

Earlier, on the 28th of last month, the Hong Kong police prosecuted and detained 47 people from Hong Kong pan-democracy camps, including Joshua Wong, on charges of conspiracy to overthrow the state regime under the Hong Kong National Security Law, which was controversial last year.

“I urge them to be released immediately,” Blincoln said. “Political participation and freedom of expression should not be a crime. The United States is on the side of the citizens of Hong Kong.” The Chinese government immediately protested. According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, spokesman Wang Won-bin at a regular briefing on the day defined Blincoln’s tweet remarks as “interference in internal affairs. Is it?” He said, “China and Hong Kong SAR are governed by law.” I said.

“We firmly support the Hong Kong police, who enforce their obligations in accordance with the law, maintain national security, and defend the security and stability of Hong Kong,” said Wang.

“I urge the US to respect the facts, follow the rule of law, and stop interfering in all forms of internal affairs with Hong Kong and China.”
