Evacuation stopped

The planned evacuation from Gaza to Egypt has been halted since Saturday. This is according to the Egyptian authorities, according to Reuters.

On Friday, several ambulances were hit in an Israeli attack, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. This must be the reason why the evacuation has now been stopped.

Israel has confirmed that it attacked an ambulance it claims was being used by Hamas.

They claim that several Hamas members were killed in the attack. The IDF says it has received information that fighters and weapons are being transported in ambulances.

Requires immediate action

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna calls for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Colonna made the statement on Sunday during a visit to Qatar.

– An immediate, lasting and observed humanitarian ceasefire is absolutely necessary and must lead to a lasting ceasefire, said Colonna.

The statement from the French foreign minister came after she had been in conversation with the foreign minister in Qatar. On Saturday, several Arab countries called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to Colonna, there is now international agreement on a ceasefire. She added that France is working on submitting a resolution on this to the UN Security Council.

In the past, the US authorities have called for a “humanitarian pause” in the hostilities in the Gaza Strip. All proposals for a break or ceasefire have so far been rejected by Israel.

No Norwegians on the list

No Norwegians are on the list of those originally supposed to cross the border from Gaza to Egypt on Sunday. This is according to the embassy in Cairo Aftenposten.

Since Wednesday, several foreign nationals have been allowed to cross the Rafah crossing. So far, no Norwegians have been listed.

Over 200 Norwegian citizens are in the Gaza Strip. Of these, more than half are children.

On Saturday 7 October, Palestinian Hamas attacked Israel, which led to Israel declaring war.

Over 1,400 Israelis were killed in Hamas’ attack. Most were civilians.

Since then, Israel has repeatedly attacked the Gaza Strip. At least 9,770 people have been killed, according to the Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled area.

Of those killed, at least 4,800 must be children.
