US Secretary of State Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Discuss Progress at Munich Security Conference

Blinken and Wang met during the Munich Security Conference.

Blinken stressed the importance of continuing the progress made in the November summit between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, US State Department press secretary Matthew Miller said.

The US Secretary of State also emphasized that it is important to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.

Wang expressed a similar stance on the Biden-Xi summit, saying the two sides should promote the “sustainable development of bilateral relations,” according to a statement from China’s Foreign Ministry.

The Chinese minister also called on the US to “remove the unilateral illegal sanctions imposed on Chinese companies and individuals”.
