US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
Cairo: U.S. Foreign Secretary Anthony Blinken’s visit to West Asia has begun. He explored the possibilities of implementing a cease-fire agreement in Gaza. He met with the leaders who arrived in Egypt on Tuesday. The U.S. said Blinken’s visit was aimed at enforcing a cease-fire agreement to free Hamas hostages. Officials informed.
Blinken’s visit is in the context of Israel intensifying its military operations in Rafah, which borders Egypt. Egypt had warned that the presence of the Israeli army in the border area would challenge the peace agreement signed between the two countries 40 years ago.
Blinken will arrive in Israel on Wednesday after meeting with Arab countries. This is Blinken’s fifth visit to West Asia since the start of the Hamas-Israel war. Last month, the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Israel handed over a draft ceasefire agreement to Hamas. However, Hamas has not yet responded. Meanwhile, 113 people were killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza in the last 24 hours. The total death toll stands at 27,478.
