Visiting Kiev, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new delivery of arms to Ukraine.
The Biden administration will for the first time send ammunition containing depleted uranium, which notably makes it possible to pierce armor, to Ukraine.
Revealed in recent days, the information was confirmed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on a two-day visit to kyiv.
Blinken also announced an additional $1 billion in aid for Ukrainians.
These 120 mm munitions containing depleted uranium are effective against tanks and other armored vehicles. These are able to pierce armor but are controversial because of the toxic risks for the military and populations.
During his visit, the American Secretary of State observed “the progress of the counter-offensive (of the Ukrainian army)” which has “accelerated in recent weeks”. “This new aid will help give it a new impetus.”
