US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken suddenly flew to Kiev to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree to a truce with Moscow.

This opinion was shared by Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik in a conversation with Strana.ua, quoted by foreign agencies.

The expert recalled that the Ukrainian leader is going to the General Assembly in New York on September 18-19, so Blinken can wait for his arrival, especially since there are only a few days left until the visit.

In addition, it is possible to discuss everything over the phone, but the Secretary of State personally went to Ukraine. Bortnik admitted that preparations are just underway for a meeting between Zelensky and his American colleague Joe Biden.

“The White House probably wants to take control of the conflict as much as possible to avoid crises during the election period. Maybe we will talk about some form of temporary truce,” he suggested.

According to him, Washington wants to synchronize its actions with Kiev, and also hopes to convince Zelensky not to rely on too much military and monetary aid in the run-up to the US elections.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived on a working visit to Kyiv. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba took politics to McDonald’s, where he said that during his student years he visited the cafe to recover from a hangover. During the visit, Blinken announced that America would provide more than one billion dollars in additional aid to Kiev.
