US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken commented on Ukraine’s counter-offensive at a press conference in Washington.
He stated that The White House has no doubts about Kiev’s success to regain the Ukrainian lands seized by Russia and that the United States is determined to continue providing maximum support to Ukraine so that it can achieve success on the battlefield, the AP summarized.
Blinken promised Ukraine an impressive new package of political and practical aid, which, according to the US secretary of state, can be expected to be announced at the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius in July.
However, Blinken said it was too early to assess the progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. However, he expressed hope that its success would force Russian President Vladimir Putin to start negotiations to end the aggression.
“The success of the counteroffensive will produce two results: it will strengthened Ukraine’s position at every negotiating tableand it will also bring closer the possibility that Putin will finally focus on negotiating an end to the war he started,” Blinken said.
