Washington:

US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen has announced that he will travel to Qatar and Germany next week to discuss the crisis in Afghanistan.

Blingen told reporters on Sunday that he was leaving and that he was “deeply grateful” to Qatar, a major US aviation hub for Afghanistan, and that the Taliban had quickly taken control of the country.

The US ambassador to Afghanistan has announced that he will be traveling to Germany to chair a virtual summit of 20 countries together with Foreign Minister Heiko Mass.

“All countries have a role to play in relieving the Taliban of their obligations to relocate and resettle Afghanistan,” said Blinken.

He pointed out earlier this week that the Taliban had promised to allow the United States to deport Afghanistan after 20 years of military service.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will embark on a trip to Qatar on Sunday to serve as a platform for diplomacy with the Taliban.

The Pentagon said Austin would then visit Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as well as US military allies.
