US scientists announced: Zombie spiders are coming

According to the news in the New York Post, scientists developed real ‘spider robots’ by robotically manipulating dead arthropods so that they can grasp objects with their legs.

Experts from Rice University in Texas have the dead wolf spider legs spread out so they can wrap around objects. Thus, it was discovered that dead spiders can lift 130 percent of their own body weight. It was stated that these could be used in electronics or in catching small insects in the future.

“CAN BE USED IN MANY AREAS”

“Spiders can be used in many areas as small-scale, natural scavengers after they die,” said Daniel Preston, who was involved in the study.

Researchers reportedly got inspired after observing the post-mortem body positions of these creatures.

“Spiders don’t have antagonistic muscle pairs like humans do biceps and triceps. When they die, they lose their ability to actively press on their bodies. That’s why they curl up. We thought this was very interesting, and we started investigating,” said Faye Yap, another co-author in the study.

It is stated that the study is planned to be tested on different living things.
