US says it may be more difficult to transport weapons to Ukraine in coming days

MADRIDMarch 7 – US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said Monday that it could be more difficult to transport weapons to Ukraine in the coming days.

“It is essential that what we send is what (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky asks for. He knows what the army needs from him,” he said at a press conference in Madrid, as part of a week-long trip to visit Turkey, Spain and North Africa.

“That may be more difficult in the coming days and we will have to find other ways to handle it,” he added without elaborating.

Russia on Monday announced new humanitarian corridors to transport Ukrainians caught under its bombardment to Russia itself and its ally Belarus, a move immediately denounced by Kiev as an “immoral maneuver”.

Russia calls the campaign it launched on February 24 a “special military operation.” He denies targeting civilian areas and says he has no plans to occupy Ukraine.
