US Sanctions Block Russian Tankers Carrying Oil to Iran in International Waters

Among the tankers that came under sanctions were those that took on board Russian petroleum products and oil in February and March.

New sanctions imposed by the United States against Iran have led to the blocking of four tankers carrying Russian oil and fuel in international waters. Washington announced a new round of sanctions last week aimed at Iran, which ricocheted back at the Russian regime, writes The Moscow Times.

Moscow and Tehran, in the face of tightening Western sanctions, continue to strengthen their cooperation, however, the West seeks to close as many loopholes as possible to circumvent sanctions and limit the income of Iran and Russia, which support terrorist attacks against their neighbors.

The shipping company Oceanlink Maritime DMCC was placed on the sanctions list because it is suspected of transporting Iranian military goods. The US is using financial sanctions to isolate Iran and stop funding its activities that support the war in Ukraine.

Among the tankers that came under sanctions were those that took on board Russian petroleum products and oil in February and March.

Thus, the ships were trapped and are still on the high seas.

Earlier, the US congressman explained why Kyiv has the right to attack Russian oil refineries.
