US sanctions 6 Iranian UAV officials

On the 6th, the United States sanctioned six officials of an Iranian company that supplied drones to Russia.

The US Treasury Department announced the same day it would add two executives and four directors of Quds Aviation Industries (QAI), an Iranian supplier of drones, to the sanctions list.

The Treasury Department stressed that the company, which has been subject to US sanctions since 2013, is Iran’s top defense firm producing drones.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement that Russian President Vladimir Putin “would do anything to stop the use of weapons to wage a brutal war” against Ukraine.

Under this measure, the assets of individuals and entities subject to sanctions in the United States will be frozen and their transactions will be prohibited.

Earlier, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under the US Treasury Department sanctioned Iran’s Shahid Aviation Industry Research Center, which manufactured unmanned aerial vehicles used by the Russian military, in November of last year.
