US Role in Nearly Every Ukrainian Artillery Attack Reveals Media

WASHINGTON – The Ukrainian military requests precise coordinates from the Pentagon for nearly every rocket fired from a US-made artillery system, and will not open fire without obtaining them.

The Washington Post revealed this in its latest report.

Three Ukrainian officials and one senior US official spoke to the newspaper, on condition of anonymity, about American involvement.

One of the Ukrainian sources implied Washington had the final say over any action, making it the delivery of the long-range rocket to Kiev.

“After all, you control every shot, so when you say: ‘We’re afraid you’re going to use it for some other purpose,’ we couldn’t do that even if we wanted to,” the senior official was quoted as saying by the Washington Post.

US officials dispute the characterization, claiming the Ukrainians chose the targets and the Americans were simply providing intelligence to make best use of the GPS-guided munitions.

But Ukrainian officials said when the US failed to provide coordinates as requested, Ukrainian forces would not open fire.

The US has supplied the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to shore up the Ukrainian military against Russia.
