A US resident bought a painting worth 250,000 dollars for 4 dollars.
A resident of the city of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA, went to a flea market to buy a frame for a painting. She found what she wanted, but it was sold together with the painting. The woman bought it for four dollars.
For a short time, the painting hung on the wall in the woman’s home, but then it was placed in a closet for several years. In the spring of this year, while cleaning the house, the woman came across the painting again and decided to submit it for expert examination.
It was a great surprise for the experts and the owner when they discovered that it was the work of the classic American painting Newell Converse Wyatt (1882-1945).
The painting was painted in 1939, shortly before the artist’s death. It is one of four illustrations the artist created for the book Ramona by writer Helen Hunt Jackson.
The canvas will be put up for auction this month. According to experts, its price could reach 250,000 US dollars.
