WASHINGTON – Democratic lawmakers remove $1 billion in military funding Israel from the funding draft (RUU) that will fund the government United States of America (USA) after objections from liberals in the House of Representatives. Even so, party leaders promised to raise the issue by the end of the week.

Some House Democrats objected to provisions in the provisional spending bill that provided additional funding so Israel could replenish sistem rudal Iron Dome . The US company Raytheon Technologies Corp. manufactures many of the Iron Dome components.

The House of Representatives is debating a bill to fund the federal government until Dec. 3 and raise the state borrowing limit.

The dispute forced the US House Rules Committee to pause briefly before Appropriations Committee leaders pledged that funding for Israel’s defense system would be included in a defense spending bill later this year. That could set the stage for another dispute over military aid to Israel.

On Tuesday night, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said he would bring a bill to the House floor this weekend that would fully fund the missile defense system, and he hoped it would pass.

“We have to do it … it’s very important,” Hoyer said as quoted from Reuters, Wednesday (22/9/2021).

Democratic Party Representative Jamaal Bowman, one of the Democrats concerned about the provision, previously said lawmakers were not given enough time to consider the matter.

“The problem is the leadership just (will) throw something on our table, give us about five minutes to decide what we’re going to do and then try to move on,” Bowman told reporters.
