Car manufacturer Tesla is being banned by the California regulator DMV accused of misleading advertising. Those advertisements are about the self-driving capabilities of the vehicles.-
Tesla uses two names for the self-driving functions: the Autopilot and the Full Self-Driving system. The regulator states that with these names Tesla gives the impression in advertisements that the cars can drive more independently than is possible in reality. Doing so would violate California law.

The DMV is now trying to force the automaker through a hearing to give the self-driving features better names and descriptions. For example, it should become clearer to consumers what the functions actually entail. If the regulator is right, it could mean that Tesla will be fined.

The Full Self-Driving system should allow the cars to drive fully autonomously in the future. At the moment, the functions are still being tested and Tesla drivers still have to pay attention to the road.
