The United States and Russia were preparing for talks

The next few days promise to be really rich in diplomatic talks. Initially, the US and Russian delegations will discuss Russia’s security guarantees to the West in Geneva, after which the same issues will be discussed in the wider format of NATO-Russia Council negotiations and within the framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Although one of the primary tasks is to reduce military tensions on the Ukrainian border, commentators stress that in reality much more important issues are at stake: the geopolitical balance in the region and the world, security across Europe, and future relations with Russia, which has demonstrated non-compliance with various international agreements and norms.
According to United States officials on the eve of the talks, Washington is ready to discuss with Moscow the possibility of restricting military training in the region, as well as the non-deployment of missiles in Ukraine – after all, the US president has told the Russian president that he has no plans to do so. Representatives of the Joe Biden administration have stated that
The United States is reluctant to discuss the deployment of US forces or a possible reduction in the number of American troops stationed in Eastern Europe in exchange for the withdrawal of Russian forces from the Ukrainian border.
However, in the event of overlapping issues so that a common solution can be found, both sides should take equal steps to make progress. Regarding the possible deployment of missiles in the region, the representatives of the US presidential administration emphasized that it would be necessary to talk on a much broader scale. Commenting on Russia’s possible military attack on Ukraine, the Baiden administration emphasized that the response would not be slow and gradual, but immediate, on a very large scale, in cooperation with allies. Sanctions will be applied to the Kremlin’s most important sectors of the Russian economy.
On the eve of the talks, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov regretted that the United States continued to insist on a unilateral concession on the part of Russia, preferring speculation instead of speculation. According to Ryabkov, such a position cannot be the basis for a fruitful discussion on security guarantees. After all –
One of the key demands is legal guarantees that NATO will not expand eastwards and will eliminate all that the Alliance has created since 1997 on the basis of anti-Russian phobias.
No other tactic is simply contrary to Russia’s security interests.
At the same time, Ryabkov said that during the forthcoming talks with Russia, Russia was not going to discuss the situation in Kazakhstan, as this issue did not concern the West in the least.
The attempts of the United States to see the hand of Russia everywhere and everywhere are very predictable, but empty, at the same time pointing out that Russia has recently recorded external attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Kazakhstan more than once.
