Rapper Fetty Wap was charged on Friday with a conspiracy to traffick large quantities of heroin, fentanyl and other drugs in the New York City area. A correctional officer from New Jersey is also believed to be involved in the case.
Specifically, it concerns more than 100 kilograms of heroin, fentanyl and crack, which were transported between June 2019 and June 2020 with the help of the US Postal Service and in cars with hidden compartments from the west coast to Long Island, where they were to be distributed to dealers on Long Island and New Jersey. Rapper Fetty Wap arrested at hip hop festival
As reported by the AP news agency, the rapper was arrested on Thursday at Citi Field, home of the Mets, where the three-day hip-hop festival Rolling Loud is currently taking place.
“The fact that we arrested a high-ranking rap artist and a prison officer as part of the conspiracy shows how horrific the drug trade has become,” said Michael J. Driscoll, a senior FBI official Offices in New York.

Fetty Wap pleads not guilty
Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, pleaded not guilty and was detained without bail at a virtual hearing on Friday. If the court regards his guilt as proven, the 30-year-old could face “life imprisonment” as the maximum sentence.
Fetty Wap gained worldwide fame after his debut single “Trap Queen” hit number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 2015.
Not the first trouble with the judiciary
He has come into conflict with the law several times in the past. He is said to have attacked three employees in a hotel casino in Las Vegas in 2019. He was previously arrested in November 2017 and charged with drunk driving.
The father of seven children also had to experience several strokes of fate in the recent past. His younger brother was shot dead in October 2020. In June 2021, Maxwell’s four-year-old daughter Lauren died as a result of an arrhythmia. As the promiportal TMZ reported at the time with reference to the issued death certificate, the girl had a heart defect since birth.
