US Promises to Send Medical Aid to India to Cope with the Covid-19 Tsunami

WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.TV – The United States (US) pledged immediate medical assistance to India to help cope with the Covid-19 tsunami that was hitting India.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan held a telephone conversation with his colleague in India, India’s national security adviser Ajit Kumar Doval on Sunday (25/4/2021).

Launch Associated PressDuring the conversation, Sullivan expressed his sympathy and support.

The White House said the US was working around the clock to immediately send aid in the form of drugs, Covid-19 test kits with rapid diagnostics, ventilators and personal protective equipment to India. The US will also seek to deliver oxygen supply assistance.

The White House further stated that it had identified the source of the raw materials needed to produce the Covishield vaccine in India, and would provide it.
