Details: According to the publication, Republicans met behind closed doors to evaluate the oral proposal, which emerged after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas met with senators on the evening of December 12 for almost two hours.

The proposal would give the president expanded authority to deport migrants after a certain number of undocumented migrants cross the border, Republican Sen. Thom Tillis said. But radical Republicans see the proposal as mild.

Republican senators are currently mulling Biden’s immigration proposal. Tillis said Republicans need to check whether the proposals are serious.

Republicans in the Senate and House of Representatives are demanding stronger immigration controls to approve an additional $106 billion aid package, of which more than $61 billion is earmarked for Ukraine.
