US President Joe Biden will hold a bilateral meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Washington next month. The meeting is aimed at reaffirming the United States’ commitment to the defense of the Philippines and strengthening the US-Philippines alliance. The two leaders are also expected to discuss economic cooperation, the promotion of inclusive prosperity, and the fight against climate change. They will also tackle regional matters and efforts to uphold international law. Marcos’ first trip to the US as president was in September during the 77th United Nations General Assembly, where he aimed to entice US investors and business leaders to invest in the Philippines. Duterte is also expected to attend the coronation of UK’s King Charles on May 6th.
