US President Joe Biden admitted that he could not guarantee the avoidance of default in the country.
“I can’t guarantee they won’t trigger a default by doing something outrageous” – said the American president on May 21 at a press conference following the G7 summit in Hiroshima.
According to him, the republican opposition can provoke a crisis.
Biden is now exploring the possibility of using presidential powers to avoid default.
Default could be declared on June 1 if the amount that the US can borrow to pay off debts is not increased.
