US President Joe Biden thanks German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz for his support for Ukraine. Now Biden is using harsh words to get Congress to pass similar support.

The two met in Washington on Friday. With Scholz by his side in the Oval Office, Biden described it as “close to criminal negligence” if Congress does not pass an aid package for Ukraine.

At the same time, he thanked Scholz for the leadership he has shown in securing military support for the authorities in Kyiv, which is also one of the goals of his US trip. Scholz has, among other things, met senators from both parties.

Scholz points out that the German contributions to Ukraine have helped the country prevent the Russian invasion.

– Now the same must happen in the rest of the world and in the United States, says Scholz, who emphasizes that Russian President Vladimir Putin trusts that support for Ukraine will disappear.

Several attempts to get a majority for a package that includes aid to Ukraine have recently run aground in the political system in the United States.
