There, Biden will once again confirm America’s support and emphasize that Israel has both the right and duty to protect its citizens against Hamas, says Blinken.
Biden has promised strong support for Israel, and the 80-year-old has previously traveled to conflict areas. In February, he was on a high-risk trip to Ukraine that was planned in the deepest secrecy.
After the Israel visit, Biden is scheduled to travel to Jordan where he will meet King Abdullah, Egyptian President Sisi and Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority. That’s what John Kirby, spokesman for national security in the United States, says.
Earlier on Monday, it became known that the US and Israel have agreed on a plan that allows emergency aid to reach civilians in the Gaza Strip. In a statement on the night of Tuesday Norwegian time, Blinken also says that if Hamas blocks such an emergency aid shipment “we will work to prevent it from happening again”.
