US President Joe Biden told reporters on May 17 that he intended to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, but did not specify when that might happen.

Answering reporters’ questions before leaving for Japan for a G7 meeting, Biden said that “soon or not” he would meet with Xi Jinping.
He did not provide other details.
G7 summit in Japan will be in Hiroshima May 19–21. The group, in addition to the US and Japan, includes France, Germany, Italy, Canada and the UK.
