WASHINGTON – US President Joe Biden stepped up his attacks on China’s leaders. Biden reportedly told donors for his re-election campaign that the Chinese government is run by a “bad mob” who may take dangerous actions as their economy teeters on the brink of collapse.

Biden claimed Thursday (10/8/2023) at a fundraising event in Park City, Utah, that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s administration is in “trouble” because Beijing’s economic problems are a “time bomb”, according to several media reports.

He backed up his statement with several false claims about China’s economy and demographics.

“They’ve got some trouble,” Biden told his supporters. “It’s not good because when bad people have problems, they do bad things.”

He falsely stated China had the “highest unemployment rate” and more people of retirement age than working age.

He derided Xi’s special Belt and Road Initiative as “debts and snares”, alluding to loans China gives to developing countries.

The remarks are reminiscent of comments Biden made at a similar political event in June, when he called Xi a “dictator”.

Chinese officials lodged a formal protest with Washington, calling the insult a “political provocation.”
