Arizona was already assigned to Biden by Fox News on election night, but the other American channels did not follow suit then. The difference was too small to assign the state to anyone.
Now several American channels have assigned the state to Biden. With the 11 electoral college members to be earned, Biden now has 290 electoral college members behind him. That’s 20 more than the 270 necessary to become the new president. Current President Donald Trump remains at 217 for the time being. There are now two more states that have not been awarded: North Carolina and Georgia.
Despite that clear difference, Trump has still not accepted defeat. His employees are also preventing the transition period between the president and the president-elect for the time being.
Biden’s victory in Arizona is remarkable. It had been since 1996 since a Democratic candidate could bring in that state. That was Bill Clinton then, who was then elected to his second term.
