US President Biden urges funding for Ukraine to defend against Putin’s aggression and crimes

“This tragedy reminds us what’s at stake. We need to keep funding Ukraine so Ukraine can defend itself from Putin’s terrible aggression. From his crimes,” Biden said.

The US President recalled that the Senate voted for this bill by a majority of votes. He further added that history is watching the House of Representatives and if the US fails to support Ukraine at this critical moment, history will not forget it. Biden said this would make history and have huge consequences.

“Time is ticking. The clock is ticking. We all must understand that we are dealing with Putin,” the US President said.

What is known about Navalny’s death

The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) announced today, February 16, the death of politician Alexei Navalny in colony No. 3 in the village of Kharp, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

According to the FSIN, Navalny became ill during a walk. After this, he almost immediately lost consciousness, and the doctors who arrived at the scene declared his death.

Help from the USA

On February 13, the United States Senate supported a $95 billion aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. In particular, the document provides for more than $60 billion for Ukraine.

The United States has been unable to approve new aid funding for Ukraine for several months due to disagreements between Republicans and Democrats. Thus, the allocation of new packages of American military assistance is suspended.

Now the US Congress is trying to find a “Plan B” in order to allocate aid to Ukraine despite the opposition of House Speaker Mike Johnson.

In order for the bill supported by the Senate to come into force, it must be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by US President Joe Biden.
