US President Biden Rejects Possibility of Gaza Ceasefire, Threatens to Target Iranian Revolutionary Guard

US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that there is “no possibility” for a ceasefire in Gaza, coinciding with US pressure to reach a humanitarian truce to help protect civilians and deliver more aid to the besieged Strip.

Biden added: “We will target the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated groups in Syria again if we have to.”

Since the start of the Israeli escalation, Iran has received more than one American warning against engaging in the war through its agents in the region.

The United States launched strikes targeting a facility in eastern Syria, which the Pentagon said was being used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated groups, for the second time within weeks.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement on Thursday that the strikes were carried out by two F-15 fighter jets, and came in response to the recent attacks targeting US forces in Iraq and Syria, according to Reuters.

The Pentagon announced that the strikes came in response to attacks by militants affiliated with the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on American sites in both Syria and Iraq.

A few days ago, Iran warned the United States that it would “be hit hard” if it did not intervene to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, quoting the Iranian Defense Minister.

Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said: “Our advice to the Americans is to stop the war in Gaza immediately and implement the ceasefire, otherwise they will be subjected to a severe blow.”
