US police: – – Teacher gave 17-year-old covid vaccine

A 54-year-old biology teacher from Sea Cliff in New York was arrested on New Year’s Eve for allegedly giving a covid vaccine to a 17-year-old boy.

This is what local police tell the BBC, which writes that the teacher could risk four years in prison if she is convicted.

Police say the teacher put the dose on the boy at his home, despite the fact that she did not have legal permission to put vaccines, or consent from the boy’s parents.

According to the BBC, injections can be dangerous if administered incorrectly. Doctors and health professionals must, among other things, check that a vaccine has not been falsified or expired, as well as check the patient’s medical history with a view to possible allergic reactions.

According to a statement from the police, the 17-year-old must be a friend of the teacher’s son. It writes NBC New York.

The 17-year-old was visiting their home, and is said to have asked to receive the vaccine because his own mother allegedly did not want him to take it at this time, according to the American TV station.

Filmed the incident

The alleged vaccination appears to have been filmed by another person in the room, and the video was later shared on Twitter.

In the video, the 17-year-old says:

“Like that. A home vaccine ».

The video is subtitled: “Never been so uncomfortable in my entire life.”

It is unclear whether the teacher monitored the 17-year-old afterwards with a view to possible reactions, writes the American TV channel CBS.

After the 17-year-old allegedly received the vaccine dose, he is said to have gone to his mother’s home and told her about the incident.

It was the boy’s parents who called the police, the police in Nassau inform CBS. The police then began their investigation on New Year’s Day.

May be counterfeit

In a video that News 4 is said to have had access to, it may look like the woman gives the 17-year-old a dose of Johnson & Johnson, a vaccine that is only approved for those over 18 in the USA, writes NBC New York.

To CBS, Audie Liametz, who is deputy head of the emergency room at NYU Langone, explains that it is possible that such a vaccine bottle has been forged.

He also says that it requires medical knowledge to put vaccines:

– You have to draw the medicine up in a sterile syringe with a needle and push out some of the air, and then give the injection correctly, says Liametz.

The biology teacher is charged with unauthorized practice of a profession, and was held in custody through New Year’s Eve. She must appear in court on January 21.

The 54-year-old has been removed from teaching and has been relocated pending the outcome of the investigation, the school district she works in states.

NBC New York has tried to contact the woman, but she has refrained from commenting on the matter.
