Laundrie and Petito traveled through the United States for months and reported on Instagram and YouTube. After Laundrie returned alone to his parents in Florida on September 1, Petito’s parents reported their daughter missing.

According to NBC News, Laundrie’s parents went looking for their son in the Myakkahatchee Creek National Park, an area where he often traveled. When they found his stuff, they alerted the police. The body remains, which have not yet been identified, were found in a part of the park that was until recently under water.
