Washington: The US has pledged to support the UN agency’s critical humanitarian work for Palestinian refugees. This was announced by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller. They feel it is very important to support the agency. Miller said there was no other agency to deliver water, food and medicine to people in Gaza.
However, the allegations leveled against the agency must be taken seriously. Miller also demanded an investigation into the matter. The US had earlier announced that it was ending funding to UNRWA. This is followed by Matthew Miller’s response.
We support @UNRWA’s critical humanitarian work in Gaza, which is why it is so important that the UN quickly investigate last week’s troubling reports, hold those responsible accountable, and review UNRWA’s procedures. pic.twitter.com/tP4VIl2Mor

Meanwhile, a member of the US Congress has called for a review of the decision to freeze funding for Palestinian refugees. The demand was made by Congressman Choi Gracia. The allegations leveled against 12 employees of the agency are serious. However, he demanded that 2 million Palestinians should not suffer and the decision should be withdrawn.
The allegations against 12 @UNRWA employees are serious and should be fully investigated. But 2M+ Gazans must not be subjected to further suffering as a result.
The US should reverse its decision to freeze @UNRWA funding.

Countries like the UK, Australia, Canada and Japan have all stopped funding the UN agency for Palestinian refugees. Funding was stopped when UNRWA staff were accused of participating in the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas. Israel has raised the allegation in this regard.
