End the scenarios for UFO sightings in the 1960s in the USA, as according to a Pentagon report, they were probably tests of advanced American spy planes and space technology.
The report’s findings, submitted to Congress on Friday, March 8, also said there is “no evidence” that the US government has had interactions with aliens. “Most UFO sightings ended up being ordinary objects,” officials said.
However, officials accept and acknowledge that their report is not going to quell popular beliefs about extraterrestrial visitors.
“The increasing number of television programs, books, films, and the vast amount of related content on the Internet and social media focusing on UFO-related topics has likely influenced the public debate on this topic and is reinforcing these beliefs in some segments of the population,” the report says.
A Pentagon spokesman said officials who wrote the report approached the issue with an open mind, but simply found no evidence of extraterrestrial visitors.
“All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, have concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of mistaken identification,” Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters.
