The White House opposes lowering the price limit for Russian oil to $60 per barrel, despite calls from individual EU countries. Washington wants to see how the situation will develop after the introduction on February 5 of limits on the cost of Russian oil products.
Some EU countries, including Poland and Estonia, are calling for a reduction in the price limit for Russian oil, which was introduced on December 5. However, according to Bloomberg, citing sources, the White House is opposed. The US authorities want to wait for the introduction of a price limit for Russian oil products and monitor the result, since they are interconnected, the agency’s interlocutors said.
Germany at the same time believes that any revision of the price limit should be carried out in a time frame that will not affect the markets.
According to Argus, the cost of Urals oil began to grow following the benchmark Brent. And rose to $ 45 when shipped from the port of Primorsk in the Baltic Sea. According to the Russian Ministry of Finance, since mid-December, the cost of Urals has decreased to $ 47. Vice Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that the main reason is the high cost of freight to deliver oil to Asia. At the same time, deliveries are restored after they are redirected to Africa and Asia. According to Bloomberg, last week they rose by 30% – to the level of April 2022.
